I wasn't really "looking" for an Aeroworks Ultimate, as it is somewhat long in the tooth, being sold in 2005-2006.  There isn't very much info about it on the net, and not even very much on RC Universe.

Essentially the design that matches the World Models 33% Ultimate (lots of debate about who stole what design from whom and when -- a real mess), and my example actually came without the manual.  So I was forced to use the World Models manual downloaded from their website, Airborne Models (in the US), and found it to match nearly perfectly.

Wings - These are the thinnest wings you will ever see on a giant scale Ultimate.  Rumor is that this is "sort of" a copy of the Ultimate Chip Hyde used in the TOC, and he was all about "clean designs", so it could be true.  At any rate, they are VERY thin, and even though both top and bottom wings are mounted on plug-in aluminum tubes, that isn't enough, so functional flying wires MUST be utilized.  This is where the airplane gets REAL challenging..

A fellow-modeler from Gibraltar, RCU handle "Francis M ", posted his method of replacing the HORRIBLE turnbuckle system World had designed for the flying wires.  His idea is to use modified hose clamps with the wires attached to the screw adjuster part, leaving the "strap" part bolted to the cabane and fuse bottom attach points.  Well, after some scrutiny and head scratchin', I decided to go the same route.

I silver-brazed hook eyes to crimped ends of the screw adjuster, and attached the straps to the cabane and fuse existing brackets using 6-32's and locknuts.  Very solid.  Amazingly enough, these work wonderfully, and have not loosened at all.  And I have NOT been gentle with this new toy, either.  If they didn't loosen from my Knife Edge Tumbles, and outside vertical snaps, pinwheels, and Lomcevaks, they ain't gonna loosen!!!!!!!!!!!

Fiberglass parts are VERY nice.  Very nicely painted with good enamel, my only beef is that the "purple" paint is a shade or so different than the Ultracote/Oracover/whatever that covers the rest of the airplane.  The wheel pants are beautiful, and the stripes on the cowl even line up perfectly with the covering stripes on the fuse!!

Landing gear is made of STOUT thick aluminum, and has held up very well so far..
