GAS Motor Engine Weights - Updated 6/5/2007!!!
These weights established from A) personal weighing on calibrated digital scales, or B) authenticated electronic scale measurements of trusted others.
Information represents a truly "Real World" weight. Every component, except the propeller and firewall attachment hardware is included in the weights shown. Where possible, specific name of a brand and type of product was identified.
Prices represent current "street" prices from various resellers/distributors, or the manufacturer. Lowest advertised prices were used in this comparison, as of December 2, 2006.
NOTE : For strict data integrity, I use the 3.2 oz. battery and switch weight. Obviously, lighter or heavier setups can be achieved by changing that component, but I wanted my data to have apples-to-apples comparisons.
"Base Engine Weights" = Engine, prop washer, bolt, (stud/nut, if applicable), spark plug, ignition AND sensor, INCLUDING Standoffs (whatever is "stock" to make engine able to be mounted to flat firewall)
"Total Weights" = includes Base, plus muffler, plus my "standard" ignition power system, a 4 cell, 660 mah NiCad, and Hobbico HD switch with charge plug.
