This "Throttle Arm" tip is from RCU user "jrjohn". He posted to the DL 50 thread, I came across this, and just KNEW folks would love it's simplicity and effectiveness in solving a problem that we ALL hate to have to fix. This tip also would work for the CHOKE arm, which a lot of us see as a problem, too.
If you don't have "blue arms", there are many that probably would work. You most likely know someone who has tried Dubro Heavy Duty arms (and then discovered how bad they are) and threw them back in the bench spare parts bin.
Either way - This is a REALLY outstanding solution!!!
Thanks, JRJOHN!!!!!!!!!
If you are like me, you dread the thought of receiving a new gas engine and immediately finding out the Walbro carb has a throttle arm to small to use. Coming up with a workable solution has always been a pain.
Last night while installing a DL-50 into my EF Yak, I had an idea.
I remembered having a bag of blue aluminum servo arms that come with the Hitec digital servo's. (arms I never use). I removed the small stock horn from the throttle shaft horn [EDITOR - this is important - you need to remove the ORIGINAL small metal arm, and locate it PROPERLY for the rotation you need when you are ready to reinstall!] and matched up the mounting holes, clamped them together and drilled a small hole in the blue servo horn to match the existing linkage hole in the stock arm so it would accept a 2-56 socket head screw and locking nut. I replaced the 4-40 phillips head throttle shaft screw with a 4-40 socket head screw. [EDITOR - Suggest using a split lockwasher, just to be safe.] The head of the 4-40 screw hides nicely in the spline. A dab of thread locker on the threads and it's a done deal. Easy, clean and strong.
