Choosing the DX 7

Thought I'd share why * I * sold off my excellent, nearly new JR 10X and all my JR 955 receivers to upgrade to the DX 7.  Besides some sort of neuro- or psycho- logical disorder, the reasons are pretty simple - for me.  I'm not saying anyone else will, would, should, did, or has shared this view.  It's just MINE.

1.  DSM2 technology relating to channel isolation - the whole business of not permitting someone else to be "ON" the same channel at the same time.

2.  "Model Match" - the DX 7 will not permit the "wrong" airplane to be selected and power up.  If you don't have the "right" airplane selected in the TX, it just sits there, silent, doing NOTHING.  That will save a plane or two, trust me.

3.  Latency - although the 10X is darn good in how fast it clocks it's channels in the mixers, it just AIN'T as fast as the DX 7.  Period.  End of story. (There is a HUGE thread on Flying Giants and RC Groups where actual data measurements have been made of the various RC systems out there.  They're all pretty much slower than the DX 7.  Period.)  This latency improvement makes things feel "tighter";  with my aging and deteriorating reflexes and vision, this can't help but help.

4.  Obsolescence of 72Mhz. - owning one of the high end JR radios, that will NOT be "modularized" to upgrade means that horse is DEAD.  Already a very small percentage of the total RC market, the highest end TX's are going to go the way of the dodo bird.  Interesting to look at PICTURES of them, but you won't FIND one, no matter what.  (This is ** MY ** worst-case scenario-the-sky-is-falling prediction - not anyone else's, that I know of)  I did NOT want to be sitting on a really great transmitter with nearly NO resale value, so I thought I better move fast.  By looking at the for sale stuff on RCU, it sure seems there are a LOT of higher-end tx's for sale these days.  Maybe coincidence.
