DX-7 Heli Program for AEROBATIC Airplanes!!!
Discussed EARLY in the DX 7 thread, I never did read where anyone followed
through just to "see" if it would work. Throttle control is the
"main" advantage, since it has a 5 point throttle mix. (That really is
about the only gain, but could be important).
So - this morning - spare AR7000 and extra servos, and started playing.
First - it positively WILL work, and even permits DUAL elevators *and* DUAL
Aileron servos, with the "Trim Includes" working! Very slick. So the
ATV, Expo, Dual Rate, yada yada all work. Rudder is rudder (yawn).
Throttle is where things get interesting! And it probably would be pretty
cool..... First, assign a "THROTTLE HOLD" value of ZERO, but assign to
the GEAR switch. This becomes the "throttle KILL", and it absolutely
drives the throttle to the "L" point set by ATV in the throttle
channel. Very sweet!
The "THROTTLE CURVE" function is set to the "FLAP" switch,
and then just program the curve points like you want 'em. Done. There is an
option to select EXPO or not, and three points that can be set anywhere along
the curve, and each can be adjusted in terms of travel at that specific
point. Very Slick.
Overall setup is:
ELEV>GEAR in MIX 1, +100% both directions (Elevator trim works in BOTH
channels)
AILE>AUX2 in MIX 2, +100% both directions (Aileron trim works in BOTH
channels)
MIX 3 is "vacant" (so could be a knife edge mix, or roll mix, if
needed)
RUDD is RUDD
THRO is THRO
May just have to buy a foamie to test all this, but on the bench it positively
works!!
All the D/R switches work like we want. The real "plus" for this is
the Throttle CURVE, and the THROTTLE "KILL" without a bunch of
monkeying about.
Oh yeah, you do need to set the Swash for 1 servo. And all the PITCH mixes
to INH and Zero., and all the "STUNT" mixes, too. None of that
stuff is needed for aerobatic airplanes.
